Holland & Sherry Glencoe
Wool jacquard, 6 colourways, 89% wool, 9% cotton, 2% polyamide, 51 in wide. Holland & Sherry's own figures, and how we make it up as draperies in our Fort Lauderdale workroom, from the cloth your designer orders.
6 colourways of wool jacquard, 51 in wide
Holland & Sherry make Glencoe as a wool jacquard, in their Highland Fling collection (89% wool, 9% cotton, 2% polyamide, 51 in wide, made in France). The range runs to 6 colourways: Limestone, Misty, Topaz, Jasper, Carelian and Heather. Their spec sheet gives its end use as "Light upholstery, drapery, wall upholstery, soft goods and accessories".
At 51 in it is cut up the roll like a conventional drapery cloth: a wide panel is made of joined widths, with each seam hidden inside a pleat or a ripplefold wave. The repeat is 12 in across, 19.7 in down, matched at every seam and across the windows of a room, so the yardage is worked out on the repeat rather than the finished size.
Wool is naturally flame resistant but not sun resistant: it fades and weakens in direct sun, so it is lined, and on unshaded south or west glass it wants a solar shade in front of it. It can stretch a little over time in humid air, and like silk it is a protein fibre that wants an air-conditioned room rather than a house closed up for the summer (what each fibre does). At 26 oz per linear yard (834 g per linear metre) it is a heavy cloth, so the track or rod is sized for the weight.
Their drapery note advises hanging the drapery before it is hemmed, so the cloth settles to the room, and lining every drapery, to block the light and protect the face.

What Glencoe does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Glencoe is a heavy cloth, the kind that makes a drapery read as tailored: a study, a library, a dining room or a bedroom, pinch pleat or ripplefold on a track or rod sized for the weight, lined, often blackout-lined.
Light and privacy
An opaque cloth, so privacy is complete when it is closed. The lining sets the light: a light-filtering sateen keeps a room glowing, an interlining adds body and quiet, a blackout lining turns a bedroom dark (lining guide).
Cloth and care
89% wool, 9% cotton, 2% polyamide; 26 oz per linear yard (834 g per linear metre); Martindale 14,000 rubs.
Limitations
Not for unshaded south or west glass on its own: the sun fades natural fibres, so a shade goes in front of it there. At 51 in a wide panel is made of joined widths, and the repeat is matched at every seam, which costs yardage. The weight needs a track or rod sized for it; a light decorative rod will bow. No NFPA 701 result in Holland & Sherry's data, so a condo common area or a commercial job that asks for it needs the cloth flame treated with a certificate, if Holland & Sherry can supply it that way, or another cloth.

How Glencoe becomes draperies in your home
Your designer specifies
Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so the cloth is chosen and ordered by your designer, with the colour code and the sample in hand. Not working with a designer? Tell us; we can suggest a cloth we order ourselves.
We measure and give the yardage
We measure the windows, settle the style, the fullness and the lining, and work out the yardage on the width and the repeat, so the order to Holland & Sherry is right the first time.
We make and install
The cloth comes to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, where our five in-house seamstresses cut and sew the draperies, and our own installers hang them on the rod, track or motorized system the window calls for.
Where Glencoe works here
We have made Holland & Sherry wool up before: at the Ritz-Carlton Residences Miami Beach the designer's schedule called for two Holland & Sherry wool jacquards, made up as blackout drapery on Lutron Sivoia QS tracks, the reversible flannel hung with its lighter face outward as specified. Glencoe would be made the same way: lined, for an air-conditioned room, with a shade in front of it on bright glass.
For the same use, compare Glencoe with Musette (silk wool velvet, 55 in, 10 colourways), Cuillin (wool jacquard, 50 in, 6 colourways) and Grampian (brushed wool jacquard, 53 in, 6 colourways).

Glencoe: frequently asked
How many colours does Holland & Sherry Glencoe come in?
6 colourways on Holland & Sherry's site when we read it on October 7, 2026: Limestone, Misty, Topaz, Jasper, Carelian and Heather. Every one is listed on this page with its code; Holland & Sherry's photographs of each are on their own site, linked from the table.
Can I buy Glencoe from you?
No. Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so your designer orders the cloth from them. We make it up and install it: we measure and work out the yardage, the cloth is sent to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, and our seamstresses cut and sew the draperies.
Is Glencoe fire rated for drapery?
Holland & Sherry's data gives no NFPA 701 result for it, only upholstery tests (BS 5852 Cigarette & Match; Cal 117-2013). For a residence that is not an issue; where a building asks for NFPA 701 on the drapery, ask your designer whether Holland & Sherry can supply it flame treated with a certificate, or choose another cloth.
Does Glencoe need a lining?
Holland & Sherry say every drapery should be lined, to block the light and protect the face, and we agree. The lining is chosen for the room: a light-filtering sateen for a living room, an interlining for body and quiet, a blackout lining for a bedroom (lining guide).
What does Glencoe cost made up as draperies?
The cloth is bought through your designer at Holland & Sherry's price, so our quote covers what we make and install: the fabrication, the lining, the track or rod and the installation, worked out from the measure. Ask for a workroom price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
