A mélange wool velvet at 55 to 56 in, in 36 colourways
Holland & Sherry make Rambouillet as a mélange wool velvet (60% wool, 20% cotton, 12% polyester, 6% viscose, 55 to 56 in wide, made in Italy). It comes in 36 colourways, Horn, Grain, Ewe, Fleece, Antarctic, Shire, Millpond, Fossil and 28 more. Their spec sheet gives its end use as "Upholstery, drapery, accessories, soft goods and wall upholstery". It is new in their Fall 2025 collection.
The 55 to 56 in width runs up the roll, so panels are made of joined widths and the seams fall inside the pleats.
Wool is naturally flame resistant but not sun resistant: it fades and weakens in direct sun, so it is lined, and on unshaded south or west glass it wants a solar shade in front of it. It can stretch a little over time in humid air, and like silk it is a protein fibre that wants an air-conditioned room rather than a house closed up for the summer (what each fibre does). It weighs 18 oz per linear yard (560 g per linear metre) by Holland & Sherry's figures.

What Rambouillet does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Rambouillet is a velvet, so it is the drapery for a room that wants weight and quiet: a media room, a formal living or dining room, a study, a bedroom with the pile on the room side.
Light and privacy
An opaque cloth, so privacy is complete when it is closed. The lining sets the light: a light-filtering sateen keeps a room glowing, an interlining adds body and quiet, a blackout lining turns a bedroom dark (lining guide).

60% wool, 20% cotton, 12% polyester, 6% viscose; 18 oz per linear yard (560 g per linear metre); Martindale 40,000 rubs; Wyzenbeek 50,000 double rubs. Care, by Holland & Sherry's sheet: professional dry clean only, cleaning code S. Holland & Sherry list it as PFAS free.
Limitations
Not for unshaded south or west glass on its own: the sun fades natural fibres, so a shade goes in front of it there. At 55 to 56 in a wide panel is made of joined widths; the seams sit inside the pleats. No NFPA 701 result in Holland & Sherry's data, so a condo common area or a commercial job that asks for it needs the cloth flame treated with a certificate, if Holland & Sherry can supply it that way, or another cloth. Holland & Sherry flag 2 of the colourways as limited stock.

Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so the cloth is chosen and ordered by your designer, with the colour code and the sample in hand. Not working with a designer? Tell us; we can suggest a cloth we order ourselves.
We measure and give the yardage
We measure the windows, settle the style, the fullness and the lining, and work out the yardage on the width and the repeat, so the order to Holland & Sherry is right the first time.
We make and install
The cloth comes to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, where our five in-house seamstresses cut and sew the draperies, and our own installers hang them on the rod, track or motorized system the window calls for.
Where Rambouillet works here
We have made Holland & Sherry wool up before: at the Ritz-Carlton Residences Miami Beach the designer's schedule called for two Holland & Sherry wool jacquards, made up as blackout drapery on Lutron Sivoia QS tracks, the reversible flannel hung with its lighter face outward as specified. Rambouillet would be made the same way: lined, for an air-conditioned room, with a shade in front of it on bright glass.
