Holland & Sherry Sona
Natural tweed, 15 colourways, 100% wool, 59 in wide. Holland & Sherry's own figures, and how we make it up as draperies in our Fort Lauderdale workroom, from the cloth your designer orders.
A natural tweed at 59 in, in 15 colourways
Holland & Sherry make Sona as a natural tweed (100% wool, 59 in wide, made in the UK). It comes in 15 colourways, Shaela Grey, Brown, Grey, Dk Grey, Blk White, Cream Brown, Fawn Grey, Blk Brown and 1 more. Their spec sheet gives its end use as "Upholstery, drapery, accessories, and soft goods".
At 59 in it is cut up the roll like a conventional drapery cloth: a wide panel is made of joined widths, with each seam hidden inside a pleat or a ripplefold wave. The repeat is 0.5 in across, 0.6 in down, matched at every seam and across the windows of a room, so the yardage is worked out on the repeat rather than the finished size.
Wool brings weight, a soft hand and quiet, and it resists flame on its own; what it does not resist is the sun, which fades and weakens it, so it wants a lining and, on bright south and west glass, a shade in front of it. In a lived-in, air-conditioned house it is at home; in a house shut up for the summer, humidity is its risk (curtain fabric types). It weighs 13.9 oz per linear yard by Holland & Sherry's figures.
Their drapery note advises hanging the drapery before it is hemmed, so the cloth settles to the room.

What Sona does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
We would make Sona up as tailored panels, pinch pleat or ripplefold, lined, for a bedroom, a study or a living room that wants the warmth of a suiting cloth.
Light and privacy
Closed, Sona gives full privacy; how much light comes through is decided by the lining we sew behind it: light-filtering for living rooms, interlining for body and quiet, blackout for bedrooms (the lining guide).
Cloth and care
100% wool; 13.9 oz per linear yard. Care, by Holland & Sherry's sheet: professional dry clean only.
Limitations
Not for unshaded south or west glass on its own: the sun fades natural fibres, so a shade goes in front of it there. At 59 in a wide panel is made of joined widths, and the repeat is matched at every seam, which costs yardage. No NFPA 701 result in Holland & Sherry's data, so a condo common area or a commercial job that asks for it needs the cloth flame treated with a certificate, if Holland & Sherry can supply it that way, or another cloth. Holland & Sherry note that, being natural undyed wool, the shade varies from lot to lot, so a room is ordered from one lot.

Colour names, codes, colour families, widths, compositions, repeats, weights and origin are Holland & Sherry's own, from their product page for each colourway, read on October 7, 2026. The photographs are theirs and stay on their site: each row links to it. Your designer confirms the colour and the dye lot with Holland & Sherry when the cloth is ordered.
How Sona becomes draperies in your home
Your designer specifies
Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so the cloth is chosen and ordered by your designer, with the colour code and the sample in hand. Not working with a designer? Tell us; we can suggest a cloth we order ourselves.
We measure and give the yardage
We measure the windows, settle the style, the fullness and the lining, and work out the yardage on the width and the repeat, so the order to Holland & Sherry is right the first time.
We make and install
The cloth comes to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, where our five in-house seamstresses cut and sew the draperies, and our own installers hang them on the rod, track or motorized system the window calls for.
Where Sona works here
In South Florida a wool drapery belongs in an air-conditioned room with the glass shaded: a study, a dining room, a bedroom with a blackout lining, a media room where weight and quiet matter. At the Ritz-Carlton Residences Miami Beach we made two Holland & Sherry wool jacquards up as blackout drapery on Lutron Sivoia QS tracks, to the designer's schedule; Sona would be built the same way.
For the same use, compare Sona with Patagonia (mélange wool flannel, 59 in, 72 colourways), Andes (mélange wool sateen, 59 in, 66 colourways) and Rambouillet (mélange wool velvet, 55 to 56 in, 36 colourways).

Sona: frequently asked
How many colours does Holland & Sherry Sona come in?
15 colourways in 9 colour names on Holland & Sherry's site when we read it on October 7, 2026: Shaela Grey, Brown, Grey, Dk Grey, Blk White, Cream Brown, Fawn Grey, Blk Brown and Moorit Brown. Every one is listed on this page with its code; Holland & Sherry's photographs of each are on their own site, linked from the table.
Can I buy Sona from you?
No. Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so your designer orders the cloth from them. We make it up and install it: we measure and work out the yardage, the cloth is sent to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, and our seamstresses cut and sew the draperies.
How is Sona cleaned?
By Holland & Sherry's sheet: professional dry clean only. For dust between cleanings, their care note says to brush gently or vacuum with an upholstery attachment. More in cleaning shades and drapery.
Will Sona need seams?
Yes on most windows: at 59 in it runs up the roll, so a panel wider than one width is made of joined widths, with the seams hidden inside the pleats and the repeat matched at each seam.
What does Sona cost made up as draperies?
The cloth is bought through your designer at Holland & Sherry's price, so our quote covers what we make and install: the fabrication, the lining, the track or rod and the installation, worked out from the measure. Ask for a workroom price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
