TOP Trento Translucent Fabric
12 colourways, light-filtering, 280 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into roller shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
Twelve quiet colours for daylight rooms, with a blackout made in the same colours
Trento Translucent is a light-filtering roller fabric from TOP Window Covering: 100% polyester with an acrylic coating, 0.35 mm thick and 190 g/m2, on a 280 cm roll (110 inches). On the window it reads as quiet colour lit from behind. The twelve colours run from White, Ice White and Cream through Nougat, Light Gray, Kemp and Moonstruck to Olive, Drizzle and Mouse Gray, and on to Dark Gray and Anthracite. That spread is the point of the fabric: between them the twelve run from a dim room to a bright one, so one fabric can carry a whole house, with the colour deciding how bright each room is.
TOP's figures split the card into three. Anthracite and Dark Gray pass 1.2% and 2.8% of the visible light, a dim, even room for a television. Drizzle, Mouse Gray and Olive pass 8.8% to 10.4%, and Moonstruck and Kemp 19.9% and 20.2%: soft daylight, with the outside reduced to shapes. Nougat, Light Gray, Cream, White and Ice White run from 26% to 38.3%, which is bright, with glare cut but not removed. The pale colours reflect up to 57.6% of the sun's energy back out, while Anthracite absorbs 58.1% and warms at the glass. The trade-off is heat: even White passes 36.4% of it.
What Trento Translucent does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
The default light-filtering cloth for a whole floor: living and dining rooms, kitchens, home offices and baths, in one colour family throughout. Home offices take Drizzle, Mouse Gray or Olive, which keep a monitor readable without making the room gloomy; a nursery or a nap room takes Anthracite. If the room is built around a view, this is not the fabric; if it is built around daylight, it is.
Privacy
In daylight the shade hides the room in every colour, and from inside the street becomes shapes at most. At night it works the other way: with lamps on, the cloth glows and anyone moving close to it shows as a shadow, most clearly in the pale colours. For bedrooms, put Trento in front and its blackout twin behind on a dual roller, in the same colour.
Glare control
Glare control rises as the colour deepens. Anthracite, at 1.2% visible transmission, leaves almost nothing to control; the middle colours keep a monitor readable through a sunny afternoon; the whites cut the brightness of the sky but become a bright surface themselves, and a television facing one will show it. A low sun square to the window lights any colour into a glowing panel, White and Ice White most.
Limitations
No view: in every colour the outside is gone or reduced to shapes, so a room facing the water wants a solar shade instead. No darkness either, even in Anthracite, because a roller leaks light at the sides. On hard west glass the whites let over a third of the sun's energy into the room, and the deep colours hold it in the cloth. TOP lists no fire rating.

Every Trento Translucent colourway, with TOP's published figures
Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Tuv = UV transmitted, in percent for the fabric alone, as published on TOP's datasheet; a dash means TOP publishes no figure for that colour. We bring TOP samples of the colours you shortlist to the consultation.
Where Trento Translucent works here
On a South Florida house we would run Trento through the daytime rooms and let the exposure pick the colour: White or Cream on north and east glass where light is welcome, Mouse Gray or Olive in a west living room that needs taking down, Anthracite in a family room with a television. TOP lists it for humid rooms, so the baths can follow in the same colour. Every shade is made in our Fort Lauderdale workroom, on a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a chain.
Trento Blackout Color Backing is the same twelve colours made as a blackout with a coloured back, on the same 280 cm roll, so a bedroom can go dark in the colour the living room uses.
Trento Translucent: frequently asked
White or Ice White: is there a real difference?
Very little in performance. Ice White passes 38.3% of the visible light and White 37.5%; White reflects 57.6% of the sun's energy and Ice White 56.2%. The difference is tone. Hold both against your walls and window frames in daylight: one will look cleaner beside your trim, and that is the one to order.
Is there a matching fabric for pleated shades?
Yes. Trento Pleated carries the same twelve colour names as a pleated fabric, which we make up cordless or motorized for small windows and French doors. It is a separate cloth, so its light figures are not identical to the roller's: compare the two samples side by side before ordering both.
How wide can a roller shade in TOP Trento Translucent be?
TOP makes Trento Translucent in a 280 cm (110 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 110 inches wide. Wider openings get two roller shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Trento Translucent?
Trento Translucent is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see Trento Translucent samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
