TOP Varese Fabric
5 colourways, light-filtering, 280 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into roller shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
A heavy jacquard roller cloth in five quiet colours, for a shade people look at
Varese is a jacquard light-filtering roller fabric from TOP Window Covering, with a figure woven into the cloth that shows when light comes through it. It is heavy for its class, 0.48 mm thick and 265 g/m2, in 100% polyester with a heat-set finish, on a 280 cm roll (110 inches). There are five colours: White, Ivory, Cream, Silver and Gray. It is a shade for a formal living room, a dining room or a primary bedroom, where the window treatment is part of the design rather than a background to it.
TOP publishes no light or solar figures for Varese, so the choice comes down to colour and a sample at the window. As a light-filtering cloth it hides the room by day and gives no view. White, Ivory and Cream keep a room brighter and send more of the sun's heat back out; Silver and Gray quiet the light and take more heat into the cloth. TOP rates its light-fastness 6 on DIN ISO 105-B02, and does not list it for humid rooms or give it a fire listing.
What Varese does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Dining rooms, formal living rooms, studies and primary bedrooms on north, east or shaded glass, where a figured shade is part of the design. White, Ivory or Cream keep the room light; Silver or Gray quiet it. For a bathroom, a kitchen or any project that needs figures on paper, choose another cloth.
Privacy
By day it hides the room. After dark, with lamps on, the shade glows and shows shadows like any light-filtering cloth; the heavy weave may soften them, but TOP publishes no figure to say how much. For a bedroom, add a blackout behind it on a dual roller.
Glare control
With no published figures, judge it by its class and at the window. It spreads direct sun into an even glow with no view through it, which suits reading and a laptop; the pale colours become a bright panel behind a television, Silver and Gray less so. A low afternoon sun square to the glass lights the whole shade.
Limitations
It gives no view and no darkness, carries no fire listing and is not listed for humid rooms, and there are no optical figures to compare it with other cloths. The thick cloth makes a fat roll on a tall shade, which a shallow recessed pocket may not take. Choose it for its look, not for performance.

Where Varese works here
In South Florida we would put Varese in a dining room, a formal living room or a bedroom on north, east or shaded glass. Because the cloth is thick, a tall shade builds a large roll, so we check the pocket or bracket depth before ordering. It is made up in our Fort Lauderdale workroom on a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a chain.
Pompei is its closest sibling: a jacquard of the same weight on the same 280 cm roll, a little thicker, in four of these colour names without the Gray, and sold in much shorter rolls.
Varese: frequently asked
How do I judge the light without figures?
With a sample at your own window, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, because a backlit cloth looks different from the same cloth lying on a table. Hold White and Gray side by side first to see the range of the card, then narrow down to the colour that suits the room.
How wide can a roller shade in TOP Varese be?
TOP makes Varese in a 280 cm (110 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 110 inches wide. Wider openings get two roller shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Varese?
Varese is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see Varese samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
