TOP Twinlight Merengue Fabric
8 colourways, zebra: 7 cm sheer bands and 10 cm solid bands (2 3/4 in and 4 in), 280 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into zebra shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
Wide bands in greys, Denim and Peach, for living rooms with large windows
Twinlight Merengue is one of TOP Window Covering's wide-band zebra fabrics: 7 cm of sheer to 10 cm of solid in each repeat, or nearly three inches to nearly four, on a 100% polyester cloth 0.45 mm thick and 130 g/m2. The broad stripe reads clearly across a room. Its eight colourways are mostly greys, Gravel, Pewter, Flint, Shadow and Charcoal, with Ecru and Peach as the warm exceptions and Denim as the one blue. It is for a living room or a den that wants a strong stripe in a colour other than white.
TOP sells Merengue without a datasheet, so there are no light or solar figures, no fade rating and no fire listing behind it, and we say so before anyone chooses it. What holds for any zebra holds here: open, the sheer bands give a filtered view; closed, solid cloth covers the whole window. Charcoal and Shadow should close darkest and keep the clearest view out through the open stripes, and Ecru and Peach the brightest room. Choose it with the sample at your window, and judge the night view the same way, with a lamp behind it.
What Twinlight Merengue does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Living rooms, dens and family rooms with large windows, where the wide stripe is seen whole from across the room, in a palette of grey, denim or warm neutral rather than white. Take Charcoal or Shadow where the room should close darker, Ecru where it should stay bright. Decide at the window with the sample in hand: on this card, that is the only reliable test.
Privacy
Closed in daylight, Merengue hides the room as any zebra does; open, a passer-by close to the window sees through the sheer bands. After dark there is no figure to rely on. The pale colours, Ecru and Peach, will show shapes against a lit room, and Charcoal should hide more. If a room needs certain night privacy, choose a fabric that publishes it, such as Twinlight Blues in Gunmetal.
Glare control
Open, the bands let the sun across the room in stripes, which a television opposite the window will show. Closed, the solid band softens direct sun, and the darker greys should soften it more, but there is no light figure to quote, so a media room is a test-first decision. A low sun in line with the window comes through the open stripes in any colour.
Limitations
Do not choose Merengue for a project that needs paperwork: with no datasheet there is no fire listing for a hotel or a condo common area, no fade rating for hot glass and no figure for a designer's schedule. It will not darken a bedroom on its own. When the choice has to be documented, take Dixie XL, which has the same band widths and published figures.

Where Twinlight Merengue works here
Merengue fits a living room or a den with mid-tone floors and furniture, on large windows where the broad stripe is seen whole, and Peach is a rare warm option for a bedroom that is not meant to be white. Without a fade rating, we keep the darker colours off unshaded west glass in Miami or West Palm Beach to be safe. We make it up in the Fort Lauderdale workroom on Lutron or Somfy motors, with the bands of side-by-side shades lined up.
Twinlight Swing has the same wide bands and the same 130 g/m2 weight with a datasheet behind it; Merengue is the thicker cloth and the one with Peach, Denim and Ecru.
Twinlight Merengue: frequently asked
Can Merengue go in a bedroom?
As a privacy shade, yes: closed bands hide the room by day in any colour. As a darkening shade, nobody can say how far it goes, because TOP publishes no light figures for Merengue. Charcoal and Shadow are the colours to test at night with a lamp behind the sample. If the bedroom has to be dark, we would choose a blackout roller in side channels or a blackout honeycomb instead.
How wide can a zebra shade in TOP Twinlight Merengue be?
TOP makes Twinlight Merengue in a 280 cm (110.2 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one zebra shade can be made a little under 110.2 inches wide. Wider openings get two zebra shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Twinlight Merengue?
Twinlight Merengue is a zebra shade fabric: one continuous loop of fabric with alternating sheer and solid bands. We buy it from TOP Window Covering and make the zebra shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom, on a manual chain or motorized on Lutron or Somfy, and our own team installs them from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see Twinlight Merengue samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
