The 6% polyester sheer on a 118-inch roll, in Wende's seven coloursTier 3
Rachel is a Coulisse sheer at 6% openness, 100% polyester and PVC free, in the Designer book at Tier 3. It sits between the 5% basketweaves and the open sheers: more of the view and more light than a 5% weave, much less than Sena, on the widest roll of the Designer sheers at 118 inches. It is a fabric for rooms where the shade is there to soften a bright day and keep the view, a north or east living room, a bedroom under a terrace, rather than to fight a west sun, and it is the more open half of a pair with Wende.
The card is seven colours, White, Cream, Sand, Mist, Frost, Bison and Castle Rock, and the same seven names appear on Wende, the tighter of the two, so a house can run one colour and change the openness between the two designs the way a Heritage family changes it within one card. Crestron publishes no solar figures for Rachel; the choice among the seven is made on the general rule, pale reflects and hazes, dark absorbs and clears, and on the sample at your glass. What separates it from Wende in the specification is the seam rule, which decides which of the two goes on a wide slider.
Woven by Coulisse.
What Rachel does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
The sheltered side of a house or a condo: a north-facing living room, an east bedroom under a terrace, a dining room that wants the light softened, not stopped. At 6% openness it is a view fabric with some glare control, where a 5% weave feels too dense and Sena too open. White, Frost or Cream in a pale room; Bison or Castle Rock where the view should read clearest. Not for a west wall.
Privacy
Daytime cover a step below a 5% weave: with sun on the glass the room is hard to read from the street through White, Frost, Cream or Sand, which reflect the most light back, and easier through Bison and Castle Rock, which give the clearer view out. At dusk it fades and after dark a lit room shows through every colourway, so a bedroom pairs Rachel with a blackout on a dual roller.
Glare control
Six percent open takes the harshness off a bright day and does not make a west-facing television watchable in the afternoon. Bison and Castle Rock absorb the most and soften a screen best; White and Frost keep the room bright and leave more glare on a monitor. Crestron publishes no visible transmission figure for Rachel, so the shortlist is judged at your glass. For a glare problem step down to a 3% or 1% weave.
Limitations
No night privacy, no darkening, no figures for an energy model, and no tighter weave in the design: the next step down is Wende in the same colour. The roll is 118 inches and Rachel is neither railroaded nor seamed, so a wider opening is two shades on one bracket, aligned at a mullion. Choose Wende where a seam is needed, and a basketweave with published figures where an association wants numbers.

Every Rachel colourway, with Crestron's published figures
Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed and Tv = visible light transmitted, in percent, as Crestron publishes them in its fabric shop and its Fabric Information Guide (revision 3.23.26) for each colourway; Ts, Rs and As add up to 100. Openness is Crestron's figure; width is the usable roll width. We bring samples of the colours you shortlist to the consultation.

Where Rachel works here
We specify Rachel where the room is on the sheltered side of the house: a living room facing north across a canal, a bedroom under a terrace, a study that wants the view and a softened light. Frost or White on a white interior; Bison or Castle Rock where the view should read clearest. At 6% openness it stays off west and south-west glass and out of rooms with screens; the same colour on Wende, one point tighter, is the first move when a room takes more sun than expected.
Rachel is the 6% sheer on the widest roll among the Designer sheers, 118 inches, unseamed; Wende is its partner in the same seven colours, one point tighter and seamable, Sena the far more open sheer above it, Emma and the Phifer 5% weaves the basketweave alternatives with published figures, and Grant the Tier 1 one without.
Rachel: frequently asked
Rachel or Wende?
They share the same seven colour names and the same 100% polyester cloth, both PVC free, both Tier 3. Rachel is the more open weave at 6% openness on the wider roll, and it cannot be seamed; Wende is one point tighter on a roll that can. Take Rachel for the shaded side of the house where the view and the light matter most, Wende where the glass takes a little more sun or the opening is wider than the roll and needs a seam.

How wide can a Crestron shade in Rachel be?
