The 5% polyester sheer that shares Rachel's seven colours and seamsTier 3
Wende is a Coulisse sheer at 5% openness, 100% polyester and PVC free, in the Designer book at Tier 3, and the tighter half of a pair with Rachel. Same cloth, same seven colour names, one point less open on a 116-inch roll, and, unlike Rachel, it can be seamed, which makes it the one of the two to specify on a wide slider. It is the Designer book's polyester alternative to a 5% basketweave: view and softened light on glass that takes some sun, without the PVC coating of the Heritage screens.
The card is White, Cream, Sand, Mist, Frost, Bison and Castle Rock, one weave in seven colours, and the same names on Rachel mean a house can hold one colour and move from Wende to Rachel, one point more open, room by room without a change of card. Crestron publishes no solar figures for Wende, so the pale-to-dark rule and the sample at the window decide the colour: White and Cream reflect the most and keep a room bright, the darker names, Bison and Castle Rock, absorb more and keep the view sharp. The Fabric Information Guide lists it fire retardant, OEKO-TEX certified, PVC free, lead free and recyclable.
Woven by Coulisse.
What Wende does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
View rooms with some sun: a living room under a terrace, an east or south bedroom, a dining room off a shaded lanai. At 5% openness it does what a 5% basketweave does, with a polyester cloth instead of a PVC coating, and it is the one of the pair for a wide slider because it seams. White or Cream where the room is pale, Bison or Castle Rock where the view should read clearest.
Privacy
Daytime privacy in the usual proportion for a 5% weave: the room is hard to read from outside while the sun is on the glass, better hidden behind White, Cream and Sand, which send more light back to the street, and less behind Bison and Castle Rock, which trade some cover for the clearer view out. Nothing after dark with the lights on. A bedroom in Wende takes a blackout on a dual roller.
Glare control
Enough to take the edge off a bright day, not enough for a screen in direct sun. Bison and Castle Rock absorb the most and suit a television wall or a desk facing the glass; White and Frost keep the room bright and leave the most glare. With no visible transmission figure published, we judge the shortlist at your window at the worst hour. A low sun square in the window comes through every colourway.
Limitations
No darkening, no night privacy and no published solar figures, so nothing to quote to an association. One openness only: a west wall or a media room goes to a 1% basketweave such as Esprit. It is not railroaded, so width beyond 116 inches comes from a seam, and a seam on a pale sheer shows more in daylight than on a dark screen, which is why we put it on a mullion.

Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed and Tv = visible light transmitted, in percent, as Crestron publishes them in its fabric shop and its Fabric Information Guide (revision 3.23.26) for each colourway; Ts, Rs and As add up to 100. Openness is Crestron's figure; width is the usable roll width. We bring samples of the colours you shortlist to the consultation.

Where Wende works here
Wende is the 5% sheer we specify for the Designer book's view rooms: a living room on the Intracoastal under a terrace, an east bedroom, a dining room off a shaded lanai. On a slider wider than 116 inches it is the one to choose over Rachel because it seams, with the seam on a mullion. White or Frost in a white condo, Bison or Castle Rock where the water should read clearest. It stays off west glass and out of rooms with screens, where a 1% basketweave belongs.
Wende is the 5% polyester sheer that seams, on a 116-inch roll; Rachel is its partner in the same seven colours, one point more open and wider but unseamed, Grant and Emma the basketweaves at the same openness, and Perla the tighter Designer sheer at 3%.
Wende: frequently asked
When would you choose Wende over Rachel?
Two cases. When the opening is wider than the roll, because Wende seams and Rachel does not, so a wide slider can be one shade with a seam on a mullion rather than two shades on one bracket. And when the glass takes a little more sun than a north or east window, because 5% openness is a point tighter than Rachel and gives a little more glare control and daytime cover in the same colour. Where neither applies, the two are close enough that the room's other shades decide.
What does a Crestron shade in Wende cost?
Crestron places this fabric in price Tier 3. Its budgetary guide of June 2022 lists a motorized 5 Series roller shade in a Tier 3 fabric at $1,200 for 3 ft x 5 ft, $1,600 for 5 ft x 10 ft and $2,000 for 10 ft x 10 ft, MSRP, motor included, before options, control, wiring and installation. Options, the control system, wiring and installation are on top; we quote the finished shade at the measure.
How wide can a Crestron shade in Wende be?
Crestron lists a usable roll width of 116 inches for Wende; it is not railroaded, so an opening wider than the roll takes two shades side by side, coupled on one bracket with the light gap set at a mullion. We confirm the limit for the chosen hardware when we measure.
