Crestron SheerWeave Infinity 2 Fabric
9 colourways, basketweave, openness 5%, Crestron Tier 2. Every swatch and every figure Crestron publishes, from the Crestron-certified team in Fort Lauderdale that specifies and installs Crestron shades from Miami to Palm Beach.
The PVC-free basketweave at 5%, on a 96-inch rollTier 2
SheerWeave Infinity 2 is the weave for a specification that says no PVC. Crestron's Fabric Information Guide lists it as 100% TPO, thermoplastic olefin, 20% of it as the yarn and 80% as the coating on that yarn, and rates it PVC free and recyclable alongside the fire and GREENGUARD ratings the vinyl screens carry. It is woven at 5% openness in nine colours, and it shares the narrowest roll in the Phifer part of the programme, 96 inches, with SheerWeave 2710; unlike 2710, Crestron neither railroads nor seams it, so 96 inches is also the widest a single Infinity 2 shade can be. Phifer's own page is Phifer SheerWeave Infinity 2.
The nine colourways are single names: Cotton, Almond, Wheat, Barley, Stone, Nickel, Slate, Bark and Midnight. They divide by what they do with the sun. Cotton reflects 68% of the solar energy that reaches it and transmits 23%; Almond, Barley, Stone and Wheat reflect between 51% and 60%. Nickel is the middle of the card, 34% reflected and 56% absorbed. Bark, Slate and Midnight are the dark end, 4% to 5% transmitted and 86% to 89% absorbed: the clearest view of the nine and the most heat held at the glass. Visible transmission runs 6% to 22%, a wider band than the polyester-core 4500 at the same openness, so the choice of colour here does change the glare.
Woven by Phifer; the mill's full data is on our Phifer SheerWeave Infinity2 page.
What SheerWeave Infinity 2 does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Any window a 5% screen suits, on a project that has ruled out vinyl: a Coconut Grove renovation, a north-facing studio, a family room under a terrace, a bedroom on the shaded side, a nursery. Slate, Bark or Midnight where the view matters, Cotton or Almond where the room should stay bright, Nickel or Stone between. Not hard west glass: with no tighter Infinity weave, a 1% vinyl screen does that work.
Privacy
Daylight cover in proportion to how pale the colour is, and none after dark. Cotton, Almond and Barley reflect enough daylight to hide the room fairly well until the lights come on; Bark, Slate and Midnight give the clearest look out and, in equal measure, in. At night every colourway shows the room. For a bedroom on a PVC-free brief, the night layer is SheerWeave 7500, a polyester blackout, on the second bracket.
Glare control
Colour does the work at this openness. The three dark colours cut the sky's glare and keep a screen readable while the sun is off the glass; Cotton, at the top of the visible-light range, leaves a bright glow on a monitor. Nickel is the compromise for a room that must be bright and usable. A low sun in line with the window goes through any of them; that is a blackout's job.
Limitations
Width first: 96 inches is the roll and the ceiling, because Crestron allows neither a railroaded shade nor a seam on this weave, so a 10-foot slider is two shades on one headrail with the joint at a mullion. It darkens nothing, hides nothing at night, and the dark colours hold heat at the glass like any dark screen. The other PVC-free Phifer screen, SheerWeave 8000, is polyester at 3%, brighter and wider.

Where SheerWeave Infinity 2 works here
Infinity 2 comes out when a South Florida project arrives with a materials brief: a renovation where the designer has ruled out vinyl, a clinic or school specification, an association that has written PVC out of its standard. On the glass we treat it as any 5% screen, at home on east and north elevations and under a terrace, Slate or Bark toward the water, Cotton or Almond where the room should stay bright. The width is the first thing we settle at the measure, before colour.
SheerWeave Infinity 2 is the PVC-free 5% weave, TPO throughout on a 96-inch roll that Crestron neither railroads nor seams; SheerWeave 8000 is the other PVC-free Phifer weave, polyester at 3% on 116 inches, and the vinyl Phifer 5% screens, 2390, 2705 and 4500, all run 124 inches.
SheerWeave Infinity 2: frequently asked
What is TPO, and why choose it over a vinyl screen?
Thermoplastic olefin, a plastic that is not PVC. On Infinity 2 both the yarn and the coating are TPO, so there is no vinyl and no fiberglass anywhere in the cloth, which is what a PVC-free brief is asking for, and Crestron's guide adds a recyclable rating. What it does on the glass is what a 5% basketweave does; the reason to choose it is the material list, not the view. The other PVC-free solar screen in the Heritage Collection is SheerWeave 8000, a polyester weave at 3%.
Can a whole house go PVC free on Crestron?
Yes. Among the Phifer weaves alone, the Designer Collection has SheerWeave 7450, a light-filtering polyester with an acrylic coating, and the 7400, 7500 and 7001 blackouts, all rated PVC free in Crestron's guide, and many of the Coulisse fabrics in that collection are rated PVC free too. Infinity 2 or 8000 takes the daytime layer, 7450 the bathrooms and bedrooms that want daylight with privacy, and a 7500 behind the screen on a dual bracket where the bedroom has to go dark. What does a Crestron shade in SheerWeave Infinity 2 cost?
Crestron places this fabric in price Tier 2. Its budgetary guide of June 2022 lists a motorized 5 Series roller shade in a Tier 2 fabric at $1,000 for 3 ft x 5 ft, $1,300 for 5 ft x 10 ft and $1,600 for 10 ft x 10 ft, MSRP, motor included, before options, control, wiring and installation. Options, the control system, wiring and installation are on top; we quote the finished shade at the measure.
How wide can a Crestron shade in SheerWeave Infinity 2 be?
Crestron lists a usable roll width of 96 inches for SheerWeave Infinity 2; it is not railroaded, so an opening wider than the roll takes two shades side by side, coupled on one bracket with the light gap set at a mullion. We confirm the limit for the chosen hardware when we measure.
Is Crestron SheerWeave Infinity 2 the same fabric as the mill's?
Crestron buys SheerWeave Infinity 2 from Phifer and lists it under its own SKUs and price tier. The weave is the one on our Phifer SheerWeave Infinity2 page, where the mill's full optical and fire data lives; Crestron's page here shows the colourways and openness Crestron actually stocks for its shades.
