TOP Finesse Screen 3% Fabric
7 colourways, solar screen, 3% openness, 300 cm roll, fire listed. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into roller shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
A thin, light 3% screen for wide windows and shallow pockets
Finesse Screen 3% is a flame-retardant solar screen from TOP Window Covering, 30% polyester and 70% PVC at 3% openness. It is the thinnest and lightest of TOP's flame-retardant screens, 0.32 mm and 290 g/m2, on a 300 cm roll, about 118 inches. Seven colours run from White and Ivory through Sand, Light Gray, Gray and Taupe to Black. A thin cloth rolls up small and hangs light, which suits wide openings and shallow ceiling pockets in offices, hotels and houses.
The colour sets the behaviour. White passes 20.3% of the visible light and reflects 66.2% of the sun's energy, so it keeps a room bright and sends most of the heat back out, at the cost of a hazier view. Black passes 4.3% and reflects 6%: the clearest view and the most heat held in the cloth. Ivory and Light Gray sit between them. TOP publishes no figures for Sand, so we would hold a sample against the glass before choosing it.
What Finesse Screen 3% does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Wide sliders and storefront glass, rooms with a shallow pocket or a tight fascia, and runs where several shades share one headrail and the weight adds up. White for sunny glass facing the ocean, Ivory or Light Gray where the room should stay soft, Taupe, Gray or Black where monitors face the window. When the exposure is mixed, Light Gray is the balanced choice.
Privacy
Daytime privacy follows the colour: White and Ivory hide the room better from the street, Black sees out best and hides least. At night with the lights on the room is visible through every colour, as it is through any 3% screen. Where that matters, pair it with a blackout on a dual roller.
Glare control
Black, Taupe and Gray pass 4.3% to 4.9% of the visible light, which keeps a monitor readable through most of the day. White softens glare but leaves a bright panel that washes out a screen opposite it. A low sun lined up with the window shows through any 3% weave, so late afternoon on west glass still calls for a second layer.
Limitations
It will not darken a room or give night privacy. The dark colours hold the sun's heat in the cloth, so keep Black off unshaded west windows. TOP publishes no optical figures for Sand. The fabric contains PVC, so it does not meet a no-vinyl specification. For a bedroom, choose a blackout shade instead.

Every Finesse Screen 3% colourway, with TOP's published figures
Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Tuv = UV transmitted, in percent for the fabric alone, as published on TOP's datasheet; a dash means TOP publishes no figure for that colour. We bring TOP samples of the colours you shortlist to the consultation.
Where Finesse Screen 3% works here
We would use it where the shade has to fit a ceiling pocket framed on the shallow side, or across a wide bay where a lighter cloth puts less weight on the tube. In a condo or a hotel on the beach, White on the ocean side keeps heat out; Taupe or Gray suits an office where monitors face the glass. The datasheet lists NFPA 701, California Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109, EN 13773, DIN 4102 B1 and BS 5867 Part 2.
Fashion Screen 3% is the same openness in a heavier cloth with twelve colours and no white, and it adds Classe 1 (Italy) to the fire listings.
Finesse Screen 3%: frequently asked
White or Ivory for a bright room on the water?
White, if heat is the concern: it reflects 66.2% of the solar energy against 53% for Ivory. Ivory passes less light, 13.7% against 20.3%, so it softens the room more and gives a slightly clearer view out. On unshaded east or west glass we would take White; on a balcony wall in shade, Ivory.
How wide can a roller shade in TOP Finesse Screen 3% be?
TOP makes Finesse Screen 3% in a 300 cm (118 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. Wider openings get two roller shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Finesse Screen 3%?
Finesse Screen 3% is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Is Finesse Screen 3% flame retardant?
TOP's datasheet for Finesse Screen 3% lists NFPA 701, California Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109, EN 13773, DIN 4102 B1, BS 5867 Part 2. For a hotel, a condo common area or an office, ask us for the datasheet with your quote: the building's reviewer or the fire marshal will want the listing in writing.
