TOP Orient FR Fabric
6 colourways, light-filtering, 300 cm roll, fire listed. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into roller shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
A PVC-free, fire-listed light-filtering fabric that blocks nearly all UV
Orient FR is the flame-retardant form of TOP Window Covering's Orient light-filtering fabric: 100% polyester with an acrylic coating, 0.34 mm thick and 165 g/m2, on 240 and 300 cm rolls, not every colour in both. TOP lists it free of PVC, lead, halogens, formaldehyde and phthalates. The six colours are White, Havana Beige, Light Gray, Sand, Neutral Gray and Cool. It suits offices, hotel rooms and condo common areas that want soft daylight, privacy by day and a fire listing.
The six colours behave very differently. Cool passes 0.4% of the visible light and Neutral Gray 2%, which makes a room very dim and even, while White passes 25.8% and reflects 63.3% of the sun's energy, a bright choice that sends most of the heat back out. Havana Beige and Light Gray sit between. UV transmission is 0% to 0.3% across the card, which protects floors and furniture near the glass. The trade-off is the view: there is none, in any colour.
What Orient FR does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Hotel rooms, offices and condo common areas where the window should give light and privacy but no view, and where a fire listing is required. White on bright exposures, Havana Beige or Light Gray for a warmer room, Cool or Neutral Gray where the room must stay dim. Specify it as the daytime layer and plan a blackout alongside it in guest rooms.
Privacy
During the day nobody sees in, whatever the colour. At night, with lights on, the room shows as silhouettes, most clearly through White; Cool and Neutral Gray pass so little light that they show far less. A guest room still needs a blackout as well, and a dual roller puts both on one bracket.
Glare control
The two dark colours turn direct sun into very dim, even light, which suits a monitor or a projector. White softens glare without removing it and becomes a bright panel on a sunny window, with Havana Beige at 18.2% and Light Gray at 11.7% in between. With no view through any colour, the sun shows as a glow, never a sharp disc.
Limitations
It gives no view, so it is the wrong choice for a window you want to look through: that needs a solar screen. It does not black out a room either. TOP's datasheet does not list it for humid environments, so we would keep it out of bathrooms. For a flame-retardant screen that keeps the view, see Essence Screen.

Every Orient FR colourway, with TOP's published figures
Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Tuv = UV transmitted, in percent for the fabric alone, as published on TOP's datasheet; a dash means TOP publishes no figure for that colour. We bring TOP samples of the colours you shortlist to the consultation.
Where Orient FR works here
We would use Orient FR in a hotel room or an office that needs privacy all day and a fire listing, with White on sunny glass and Cool or Neutral Gray where the room must stay dim. The datasheet lists NFPA 701, California Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109, EN 13773, DIN 4102 B1, BS 5867 Part 2 and Classe 1 (Italy). For a guest room that also has to go dark, pair it with Orient FR Blackout White Backing.
Orient (XXL) is the residential fabric, with these six colour names among its 36 colours, but no fire listings on its datasheet.
Orient FR: frequently asked
Is Cool dark enough for a bedroom?
Not on its own. Cool passes 0.4% of the visible light, which makes a room dim and even but not dark, and light still passes at the edges of the shade. For sleep, run Orient FR Blackout White Backing behind it on a dual roller, or choose the blackout outright.
How wide can a roller shade in TOP Orient FR be?
TOP makes Orient FR in rolls 240 and 300 cm (94.5 and 118 in); the 300 cm roll in some colours only. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. Wider openings get two roller shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Orient FR?
Orient FR is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Is Orient FR flame retardant?
TOP's datasheet for Orient FR lists NFPA 701, California Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109, EN 13773, DIN 4102 B1, BS 5867 Part 2, Classe 1 (Italy). For a hotel, a condo common area or an office, ask us for the datasheet with your quote: the building's reviewer or the fire marshal will want the listing in writing.
Can I see Orient FR samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
