TOP Orient FR Blackout White Backing Fabric
6 colourways, blackout, white backing, 300 cm roll, fire listed. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into roller shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
A PVC-free flame-retardant blackout with a white back, in six Orient colours
Orient FR Blackout White Backing is the blackout form of Orient FR from TOP Window Covering: 100% polyester with an acrylic foam coating and a white back, 0.47 mm thick and 320 g/m2, on 240 and 300 cm rolls, not every colour in both. TOP lists it free of PVC, lead, halogens, formaldehyde and phthalates. The six colours are White, Soft Beige, Sand, Light Gray, Cool Gray and Dark Gray. It is meant for hotel rooms, condo bedrooms and offices that need a dark room and a fire listing without vinyl.
Pick the face colour for the room; the white back gives the building the same face at every window. TOP publishes no optical figures for this fabric. The datasheet lists NFPA 701, California Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109, EN 13773, DIN 4102 B1 and BS 5867 Part 2, one fewer than the light-filtering Orient FR, which adds Classe 1 (Italy). It dates from 2022, older than any other datasheet in the contract range, so we confirm colours and widths with TOP before ordering.
What Orient FR Blackout does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Hotel guest rooms, condo bedrooms and nurseries, boardrooms and media rooms where the specification calls for a flame-retardant blackout with no PVC. White or Soft Beige keeps a bedroom light in feeling by day; Dark Gray or Cool Gray suits a media room. Specify side channels with it, and choose it over a vinyl blackout whenever the brief says PVC-free.
Privacy
Complete through the cloth, by day and by night, in all six colours. A roller shade still shows a line of light at each side, which marks a lit room from outside at night; side channels or a ceiling pocket close those gaps. For daytime privacy with daylight, add a light-filtering or screen layer on a dual roller.
Glare control
TOP publishes no optical figures for it, but as a blackout it removes glare by removing the daylight. That is right for a projector, a television or a sleeping guest and wrong for a desk. Where people work by day, hang a solar screen or the light-filtering Orient FR with it and lower this one only when the room has to be dark.
Limitations
No view and no daylight. TOP's datasheet does not list it for humid environments, so we would keep it out of bathrooms and pool rooms. It carries fewer fire listings than C-Screen Blackout, with no NFPA 101 or IBC Section 803.1.1, so check the specification before choosing it. For other bedroom options, see blackout shades.
Orient FR Blackout White Backing
6 colours. Blackout, white backing; 240 and 300 cm (94.5 and 118 in); the 300 cm roll in some colours only roll.

Where Orient FR Blackout White Backing works here
In a hotel room or a condo bedroom we would make it up in side channels, with the light-filtering Orient FR or a solar screen as the daytime layer on a dual roller. Sand, Light Gray and White appear on both Orient FR cards, so the two layers can share a colour name. For an office on a no-vinyl specification, Dark Gray or Cool Gray suits a presentation room.
Orient Blackout White Backing is the residential version, with 17 colours on a 240 cm roll and no fire listings on its datasheet; five of the six colour names here appear on it.
Orient FR Blackout White Backing: frequently asked
Why choose it over C-Screen Blackout White Backing?
For a specification that excludes vinyl. TOP lists Orient FR Blackout as PVC-free, where C-Screen Blackout is a polyester and PVC cloth. C-Screen is heavier, has eight colours and adds NFPA 101 and IBC Section 803.1.1 to its fire listings, so where a specification names those, it is the one to use.
How wide can a roller shade in TOP Orient FR Blackout White Backing be?
TOP makes Orient FR Blackout White Backing in rolls 240 and 300 cm (94.5 and 118 in); the 300 cm roll in some colours only. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades side by side, set to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Orient FR Blackout White Backing?
Orient FR Blackout White Backing is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Is Orient FR Blackout White Backing flame retardant?
TOP's datasheet for Orient FR Blackout White Backing lists NFPA 701, California Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109, EN 13773, DIN 4102 B1, BS 5867 Part 2. For a hotel, a condo common area or an office, ask us for the datasheet with your quote: the building's reviewer or the fire marshal will want the listing in writing.
