TOP Sorrento Blackout White Backing Fabric
19 colourways, blackout, white backing, 280 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into roller shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
Nineteen colours inside, a white back to the street, 110 inches wide
Sorrento Blackout White Backing is a blackout roller fabric from TOP Window Covering, 100% polyester with an acrylic foam coating, on a 280 cm roll, about 110 inches. It has the longest colour card of TOP's white-backed blackouts: 19 colours, from Mustard, Brick and Old Pink through Agave Green, Jade and Adriatic Blue to Stone, Pebble, Ivory and White. Whatever the room sees, the back is white, so from outside every window shows the same plain white shade. It suits bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms where the shade is part of the decorating and the facade has to stay uniform.
That white back is what makes the choice easy. The side that faces the glass and meets the sun is white in all 19 colours, so the face can be chosen for the room alone: Charcoal or Taupe for a media room that should read dark, Sand or Ivory for a bedroom that should feel light under lamps, Mustard or Adriatic Blue where the shade is meant to be noticed. TOP publishes no optical figures for Sorrento, so we quote no light or heat numbers for any colour. The honest trade-off is bulk: at 0.65 mm and 400 g/m2 a tall drop builds a thick roll, so the pocket or headroom gets checked first.
What Sorrento Blackout does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Bedrooms, nurseries, guest rooms and media rooms, and any condo window where the association wants white at the glass and the owner wants colour in the room. One shade covers openings up to about 110 inches. Choose the darker faces, Charcoal, Taupe or Olive, where the shade should disappear at night, and the bright ones where it should be seen. If colour inside and white outside are both on the brief, choose Sorrento.
Privacy
Through the cloth, nothing reads from outside at any hour, which is what TOP's blackout class means for all 19 colours. The giveaway is the edge. A roller shade hangs a little narrower than the opening, and after dark a lit room shows a fine bright outline round it from the street. Side channels close that gap, and on a bedroom over a walkway we would specify them.
Glare control
Down, it removes the glare with the daylight, which is right for a television wall or a projector and wrong for a desk you use by day. TOP publishes no transmission figures for Sorrento, so the blackout class is the only guide. A low sun lined up with the window shows first at the side gaps, so a west-facing media room should have channels from the start.
Limitations
It will not give daylight with privacy, and it will not keep a view, so a living room wants a screen rather than this. TOP lists no fire rating for Sorrento, which rules it out of a hotel room or a condo corridor: that work goes to the FR contract range. And a heavy 0.65 mm cloth makes a fat roll on a tall drop, so check the pocket.

Where Sorrento Blackout White Backing works here
In South Florida we would show Sorrento first to a condo owner who wants colour in the bedrooms under an association that wants white at the glass: Agave Green or Adriatic Blue inside, white to the street. We make it up on a Lutron or Somfy motor, with side channels where the room has to go fully dark. At 110 inches it takes most bedroom windows and many sliders in one piece, and on an east-facing Intracoastal bedroom it is the shade that holds back the sunrise.
Orient Blackout White Backing is the thinner, lighter white-backed alternative, with a higher light-fastness rating and GREENGUARD Gold among its certificates, but on a narrower roll than Sorrento's 280 cm.
Sorrento Blackout White Backing: frequently asked
Will a Mustard or Adriatic Blue shade show that colour from the street?
No. Sorrento has a white backing, so the side facing the glass is white in all 19 colours and every window reads the same from outside, whatever each room has chosen. That suits an association with a uniform-facade rule. If you want the colour to show outside as well, a colour-backed blackout such as Linen Look Blackout Color Backing does that.
Can Sorrento go in a bathroom?
Yes. TOP lists it as suitable for humid environments and gives a damp cloth as the care instruction, so a bathroom, a powder room or a laundry window is a fair place for it. The white back keeps a bathroom window looking like every other window from outside, and side channels stop the thin outline of light a lit bathroom would otherwise show at night.
Does a dark colour make the room darker than White?
Not through the fabric: TOP classes every Sorrento colour as blackout. What changes is the feel of the room. With the lamps on, a White or Ivory face bounces their light back into the room, while Charcoal or Taupe reads as a dark panel. The light you notice in a blackout bedroom at dawn comes past the edges of the shade, whatever its colour.
How wide can a roller shade in TOP Sorrento Blackout White Backing be?
TOP makes Sorrento Blackout White Backing in a 280 cm (110 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 110 inches wide. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades side by side, set to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Sorrento Blackout White Backing?
Sorrento Blackout White Backing is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see Sorrento Blackout White Backing samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
