The thickest Twinlight: a near-dark zebra for bedrooms, with an 11 cm solid band
Twinlight Twist is a 100% polyester zebra fabric from TOP Window Covering and the thickest Twinlight design in our library, 0.7 mm and 220 g/m2. It also has the widest solid band in the line, 11 cm against a 7 cm sheer band, about 4.3 and 2.75 inches, so on the window it reads as a broad stripe with a narrow open band between. The six colours are White, Ivory, Sand, Khaki, Light Gray and Mocha, and TOP shows the REACH and GREENGUARD Gold marks for it. It is for bedrooms and media rooms that want a zebra which closes to near-dark.
In the three colours TOP measured, the solid band passes next to nothing: 0% of visible light in Mocha, 0.1% in Sand and 0.2% in White. Offset, the shade goes near-dark, with light along the stripe edges and around the sides. The sheer stripe is toned down too: TOP measures it at 63.7% in Mocha, so with the bands aligned the view out is softened and the open bars glare less. White reflects 56.5% of the sun's energy and Mocha 41.4%, so White is the one for hot glass. The trade-off is a short card with no black, and the bulk of a thick cloth.
What Twinlight Twist does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Main bedrooms, guest rooms and media rooms where a zebra is wanted and the closed position must go close to dark, and bright living rooms where a clearer sheer would glare with the bands open. White or Sand on hot glass, since they reflect more of the sun's energy; Mocha for a shaded room or a dark interior. Decision: Twist when you want near-dark in Mocha, Sand or Khaki rather than black and gray.
Privacy
With the bands offset, Twist covers the room day and night; a lit room shows at most lines of light along the stripes and at the sides. With the bands aligned, the sheer stripe is dimmed but still shows a lit room and movement after dark, so offset the bands at dusk, by hand or on a motor schedule.
Glare control
Offset, Twist takes direct sun off a TV or monitor almost completely, apart from bright edges at the stripe lines and the sides. Aligned, the sheer stripe passes just under two-thirds of the light in Mocha, so the open bars glare less than a clearer sheer would, which makes a part-open setting usable in a media room by day. A low sun in line with the window still shines through the open stripes.
Limitations
Do not buy Twist as a blackout, and do not order it for a shallow recess without checking the roll size first: it is the thickest Twinlight fabric. The card stops at six neutrals, with no black. For a bedroom that must be fully dark, choose a blackout shade with side channels instead.

Where Twinlight Twist works here
Twist suits the main bedroom of a South Florida condo when the owner wants a zebra with a closed position that goes near-dark, and the media room that wants a softer view with the bands open. Before ordering we check the depth of the window recess or the recessed pocket, because a thicker fabric makes a larger roll for the same drop. White or Sand on hot glass; Mocha on a shaded wall. Motorized, it runs on Lutron or Somfy.

Does Twist black out the room?
Nearly, not fully. TOP measures the solid band at 0% to 0.2% visible light in Mocha, Sand and White, so with the bands offset the fabric itself stops the light. Light still comes in along the stripe edges and around the sides of the shade, which shows in a bedroom at sunrise. For full darkness, a blackout roller with side channels is the right shade.
Will I still see out with the bands aligned?
Yes, through a dimmed view. The sheer stripe passes 63.7% of visible light in Mocha, so the outside reads clearly but darker, and the 11 cm solid band between the open stripes cuts the view into horizontal bars. Raise the shade when you want the whole window.
How wide can a zebra shade in TOP Twinlight Twist be?
TOP makes Twinlight Twist in a 280 cm (110 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one zebra shade can be made a little under 110 inches wide. Wider openings get two zebra shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.

Twinlight Twist is a zebra shade fabric: one continuous loop of fabric with alternating sheer and solid bands. We buy it from TOP Window Covering and make the zebra shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom, on a manual chain or motorized on Lutron or Somfy, and our own team installs them from Miami to Palm Beach.
