Mermet Fabric Library

The lightest screen in the library, at 1% and 5%

GreenScreen Revive is the second PVC-free fabric in the Mermet range and the lighter of the two: a 100% polyester warp knit with 89% recycled content, 118 inches wide, woven at 1% and 5%. At 5.01 to 5.87 oz per square yard it is the lightest cloth in this library by a wide margin, less than a third of the weight of S Screen. Mermet publishes Cradle to Cradle Certified Bronze and a Declare Label, GREENGUARD Gold and RoHS lead free, with NFPA 701 TM#1, California Title 19 and CAN/ULC-S109 fire listings.

The card is eight colours: Stone, Pewter, Dusk, Onyx, Suede, Mushroom, Linen and Sand. Published figures run from Sand, which reflects 61% of the solar energy that reaches it and passes 23% of the visible light, to Dusk, which reflects 36% and passes 2%. UV blockage is about 99% at 1% and 95% at 5%. Because the two openness factors sit at either end of the range we use most, one PVC-free colour can cover a hard west window and a shaded north one in the same house.

Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Rv = visible light reflected, in percent, as published by Mermet USA for the fabric on its own. SHGC int. and SHGC ext. = solar heat gain coefficient of the fabric mounted inside or outside residential double glazing, from the same spec sheets; UPF = Mermet's ultraviolet protection rating where it publishes one. We bring the sample books to the consultation.

South Florida

Where GreenScreen Revive works here

Revive is what we specify when a PVC-free project needs a tighter or a more open weave than Evolve's single 3%. In practice that means 1% on the west and south-west glass of a Fort Lauderdale or Miami house and 5% on the shaded elevations, with the same colour running through. The light weight is worth planning for on a very tall shade, where a heavier cloth hangs flatter, so we check the drop before we commit.

Revive is the 1% and 5% PVC-free knit with the highest recycled content; Evolve is the 3% version, heavier and in a cooler grey card.

Good to Know

GreenScreen Revive: frequently asked

Evolve or Revive?

Openness decides it. Evolve is woven at 3% only, which suits most South Florida glass; Revive gives 1% and 5% and a higher recycled content at 89%. Both are 100% polyester, 118 inches wide, Cradle to Cradle Certified Bronze with a Declare Label.

Does the light weight matter?

On a short or medium shade, no. On a very tall one it can: a lighter cloth is more sensitive to a draught and hangs a little less rigidly than a fiberglass screen. We size the tube and the hembar accordingly and, where a room has both, keep the tallest windows in a heavier fabric.

How wide can a Mermet GreenScreen Revive shade be?

Mermet publishes standard roll widths of 118" (300 cm) for GreenScreen Revive, so a single shade can run to about 118 inches wide before a seam or a second shade is needed. Wider openings are covered with two shades on one headrail programmed to move together, or with a seam placed where the mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.

Which shades can be made in GreenScreen Revive?

GreenScreen Revive is a roller shade fabric. We source it directly from Mermet, so the same weave goes on Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or Vertilux motors or a manual chain, cut and finished in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.

Is GreenScreen Revive PVC-free?

Mermet's published composition for GreenScreen Revive is 100% polyester / 89% recycled content: no vinyl and no PVC in the yarn or the coating, with RoHS lead free, GREENGUARD Gold, Cradle to Cradle Certified Bronze, Declare Label listed.

Can I see GreenScreen Revive samples before ordering?

Yes. We keep the Mermet sample books in the Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and the Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150), and we bring the colours you shortlist to the in-home consultation so you can hold them against your glass in your own light.
