A blackout with a visible weave, 118 inches wide, marked fungal resistant

Perugia Blackout White Backing is the blackout version of TOP Window Covering's Perugia, a fabric with a visible weave rather than a flat face. It is 100% polyester with a foam coating, 0.5 mm thick and 330 g/m2, on a 300 cm roll, about 118 inches. The eight colours run from White, Ivory and Sand through Sage, Light Gray and Gray to Brown and Anthracite, each with a white back. It is for bedrooms and media rooms where the shade should look like a textile, and for wide openings that should take one piece.

TOP publishes optical figures for one colour, Sand: Tv 0, Ts 0 and solar reflectance of 67%, so in Sand no light passes and about two thirds of the sun's energy goes back out through the glass. The other seven have no published rows, and we quote Sand and nothing more. What sets the card apart in this climate is the datasheet: TOP marks it suitable for humid environments and fungal resistant. The trade-off is a short card, and no certificate logos on TOP's page for it.

Best Use & Limits

What Perugia Blackout does on your glass, and what it does not

Best use

Bathrooms, bedrooms and guest rooms in humid or waterfront houses, and any opening up to about 118 inches that should go dark in one shade. Take Sand where the specification needs a heat figure, since it is the only colour TOP publishes one for; take Sage, Gray or Anthracite where the room should feel dark at night. For a damp room, choose this blackout first.

Privacy

Day or night nothing passes the cloth: Sand publishes Tv 0, and the other colours carry TOP's blackout class. What a neighbor notices is the edge, two lit lines down the window after dark where a roller stops short of the frame. A bathroom on a walkway wants the shade in side channels.

Glare control

With the shade down there is no glare and no daylight, so a television or a monitor works at any hour while the room depends on its lamps. In Sand, TOP's figures show no light and no solar energy getting through. A low sun lined up with the window lights the side gaps first. Where daylight is wanted, pair it with Perugia Translucent on a dual roller.

Limitations

It gives no daylight or view, TOP lists no fire rating, and TOP's page shows no certificate logos for it, so a specification that asks for OEKO-TEX or GREENGUARD Gold needs another card, such as Orient Blackout White Backing. Only Sand has published figures, so a heat calculation can use that colour and no other. Do not buy it for a room that should keep its view.

Where Perugia Blackout White Backing works here

For a bathroom window, a waterfront bedroom or a pool-side guest room in Fort Lauderdale or Pompano Beach, the fungal-resistance mark is the reason to look at Perugia first. At 118 inches it covers most sliders in one shade, on a Lutron or Somfy motor or a chain. Where the living room runs Perugia Translucent, the bedrooms can take this blackout under the same colour names.

Perugia Translucent uses the same eight colour names on the same 300 cm roll as a light-filtering fabric, but TOP lists it as neither suitable for humid rooms nor fungal resistant.

Good to Know

Perugia Blackout White Backing: frequently asked

Can it go in a bathroom?

Yes. TOP's datasheet marks this blackout suitable for humid environments and fungal resistant, with a damp cloth for care; the light-filtering Perugia carries neither mark. That makes it a better fit for a bathroom or a room on the water. Keep the room ventilated all the same: no fabric fixes a window that runs with condensation.

Do all eight colours reflect heat like Sand?

TOP has published Sand only, at 67% solar reflectance with nothing transmitted. Every colour has the same white back facing the glass, the side that meets the sun, but without published rows we will not put a number on the other seven. If a heat figure has to appear in a specification, Sand is the colour that can be documented.

How wide can a roller shade in TOP Perugia Blackout White Backing be?

TOP makes Perugia Blackout White Backing in a 300 cm (118 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades side by side, set to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.

Which shades can be made in Perugia Blackout White Backing?

Perugia Blackout White Backing is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.

Can I see Perugia Blackout White Backing samples before ordering?

Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
