TOP Trento Blackout Color Backing Fabric
12 colourways, blackout, colour backing, 280 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into roller shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
The blackout in Trento's twelve colours, to pair with Trento Translucent
Trento Blackout Color Backing is the blackout version of TOP Window Covering's Trento card: 100% polyester with an acrylic foam coating, 0.55 mm thick and 350 g/m2, on a 280 cm roll, about 110 inches. The twelve colours carry the Trento names, from White, Ice White and Cream through Kemp, Moonstruck and Olive to Mouse Gray, Dark Gray and Anthracite. On the window it reads as an opaque panel in the face colour, and TOP's Color Backing name means the back carries that colour too. It is for the bedrooms of a house that already uses Trento elsewhere.
The reason to choose it is continuity. Trento Translucent and Trento Pleated use the same twelve colour names, so the living areas can take the light-filtering roller, the small windows a pleated shade and the bedrooms this blackout, all in Kemp or Drizzle. TOP publishes no optical figures for the blackout and rates its light-fastness at 4, at the low end of its blackout rollers. If the back carries the colour, that is the side facing the sun, so on hard west glass we lean to the paler colours.
What Trento Blackout does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms in a house that uses Trento Translucent or Trento Pleated elsewhere, where one colour should run through. It also suits a single bedroom wall up to about 110 inches. Choose the paler half of the card on west and south glass, and Mouse Gray, Dark Gray or Anthracite where the room should feel darkest at night. For a Trento house, this is the bedroom answer.
Privacy
Through the fabric it hides the room at every hour, and the face colour makes no difference to that. The edges are another matter: a roller hangs just inside the frame, so a lit room after dark shows a thin line of light round it from outside. Side channels, or a recessed pocket at the head, close most of it.
Glare control
Blackout takes the glare and the daylight away together, which is the right trade in a media room and the wrong one at a desk. TOP publishes no transmission figures for this card, so the light class is the guide. For a room that works by day and sleeps at night, pair it with Trento Translucent on a dual roller.
Limitations
It is not a daytime fabric: no view, no daylight, and no fire rating from TOP, so not a hotel room or a condo common area either. The light-fastness rating of 4 is worth weighing on a bright exposure. And until the back has been checked on a sample, do not order it for a building with a white-facade rule; a white-backed card such as Sorrento settles that on paper.

Where Trento Blackout Color Backing works here
In a Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton house where the main rooms run Trento Translucent, this is the bedroom fabric that keeps the colour going from room to room. At about 110 inches it covers most bedroom windows in one piece, on a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a chain. Where a condo association requires a white street side, we check the back on the actual sample before ordering, or move to a white-backed card.
Trento Translucent has the same twelve colour names on the same 280 cm roll as a light-filtering fabric with published optical figures, for the rooms that should keep their daylight.
Trento Blackout Color Backing: frequently asked
Does the back really carry the face colour?
That is what TOP's Color Backing name means, and it is how the collection is sold. The datasheet TOP links to it, though, is titled Trento Blackout White Backing, so the paperwork does not settle the question. Before any order where the street side matters, a condo with a facade rule or a house with tinted glass, we check the back of the actual sample and confirm it with TOP.
Will it match my Trento Translucent shades?
Same names, not identical surfaces. The blackout is thicker and foam coated, and by day the light-filtering shade glows with daylight behind it while the blackout shows only its face. In one house they read as one colour family, which is the point. We bring both samples so you can see them together against your own glass.
How wide can a roller shade in TOP Trento Blackout Color Backing be?
TOP makes Trento Blackout Color Backing in a 280 cm (110 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 110 inches wide. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades side by side, set to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Trento Blackout Color Backing?
Trento Blackout Color Backing is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see Trento Blackout Color Backing samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
